Bellowhead are an eleven-piece contemporary folk band. Originally active between 2004 to 2016; they released records Burlesque (2006), Matachin (2008), silver-selling albums Hedonism (2010) and Broadside (2012) plus Revival (2014). They have also released the E.P.Onymous EP in 2004.

The band reformed after a hiatus in 2020 and continues to impress with their contemporary take on traditional styles.

Bellowhead are an English contemporary folk band. The eleven-piece band plays traditional dance tunes, folk songs and shanties, with arrangements drawing inspiration from a wide diversity of musical styles and influences.

From the wild, rousing dance tunes to the theatricality of their ballads & sea songs this is a band that are also funny, subtle and always engaging. Admire the sophisticated strings and elegant whirlwind of woodwind. Let yourself be uplifted by the powerful interplay of melodeon and mandolin. Be mesmerized by the deluge of deranged percussion, the beat at the heart of the band, while marvelling at the strange array of bent metal - the growling helicon and the euphoric horns. An 11-piece collective of talented individuals, Bellowhead uniquely mix music from around the globe, from big band to soul, jazz-funk to classical strings, with more than a dash of Music Hall and yet retain, at their core, a passion for English traditional music. Winners of the Best Live Band accolade at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards an astonishing (and unparalleled) 5 times, Bellowhead appeal to a very broad demographic. They've played everywhere from Koko to The Royal Albert Hall and regularly sell out shows at London's Southbank Centre, where they are Artists in Residence. Bellowhead have recently made return appearances on BBC TV's 'Later with Jools' & Breakfast TV and at the invitation of the producers, also recorded a brand new version of The Archers' famous theme tune for Radio 4.
