The Wildhearts - 30th Anniversary Performance, Rock City, Nottingham - 6th December 2019
Ginger and the boys fresh from a meet and greet HMV signing session, hit the stage with the new single "Diagnosis" with such energy. Their set is as deliciously unpredictable as the individual named members are, new album highlights, B sides galore, EPs new and old then a sprinkling of the good stuff (People go, Drugs, Headf#@k). Just knockout, the Wildhearts always deliver live.

The Wildhearts, The Live Rooms, Chester - 7th October 2019
Anticipation ran high in the lead up to the gig: the legendary line up of Ginger, CJ, Danny and Richie somehow not only surviving, but reforming. The new album “The Renaissance Men” had been on repeat since being released a few days earlier, baited by the release of lead track “Dislocated” a couple of months prior. Towers of London, and even more so The Massive Wagons had pumped the expectant crowd. Roadies cleated the stage, the lights dimmed, and the band emerged, Ginger’s grinning face belting out Dislocated and setting the tone for the evening: the band nailing it, the crowd lapping up every note, tone, beat. Even CJ having “technical problems” didn’t knock them out of step, Ginger teaching the non-hardcore fans the chorus of “Let Em Go” (explicit lyrics included) before powering straight in as CJ got sorted. The triumphant performance bounced between classic favourites such as “Everlone”, “Sick of Drugs”, “29x the Pain”, interspersing new album material - many already verging on classic. Throw in a couple of tracks from “Chutzpah” - sometimes described as bit of a marmite album (I like marmite!) and not a fan in the house was left disappointed. The final hurrah/encore of “I Wanna Go Where the People Go” somewhat ironic, as I’m fairly sure that no-one wanted to go anywhere, at least for another few songs.

The Wildhearts, Electric Brixton, London - 9th May 2019
As is the norm, with the Wildhearts an awesome gig. Great support bands warmed the crowd up nicely, then The Wildhearts took the roof off the Academy. A good mix of new, old and crowd pleasers tracks. Can’t wait to see them again. ππ€πΈπΌ

The Wildhearts are a British rock band known for their energetic fusion of hard rock, punk, and melodic pop. Formed in 1989 by frontman Ginger (David Walls), the band quickly became renowned for their catchy hooks, heavy guitar riffs, and rebellious spirit. Their debut album, Earth vs The Wildhearts (1993), remains a classic, featuring fan-favourite tracks like "Caffeine Bomb" and "Suckerpunch." The band’s unique sound blends the aggression of punk with the melody of pop and rock, creating a distinctive style that has gained them a loyal fanbase.
Over the years, The Wildhearts have earned a reputation for their electrifying live performances, playing iconic UK festivals such as Download and Reading, as well as touring with bands like AC/DC and Guns N' Roses. Despite various lineup changes and a turbulent history, the band has continued to release critically acclaimed albums, including Renaissance Men (2019) and 21st Century Love Songs (2021), solidifying their place as one of the UK’s most enduring and beloved rock acts. Known for their passionate fanbase and down-to-earth attitude, The Wildhearts remain a powerful force in British rock music.
