The Magic Numbers, Rescue Rooms, Nottingham - 4th December 2018

Surpassed expectations, fantastic gig

Have listened to Magic Numbers for a while, took my wife and a friend to the Rescue Rooms in Nottingham. Nice intimate venue, had a great time and the band were great and interacted amazingly with the audience. I totally recommend the band and be used to anyone who wants a good night out.

The Magic Numbers, The Scholar (O2 Academy Leicester), Leicester - 19th May 2018

Beautiful band

First time seeing The Magic Numbers live and they were fantastic, Such a happy and positive group. They played a mix of old and new songs with short interludes talking about themselves, their past and future plans. The venue was quite cramped but the acoustics were very good considering the shape and size of the venue. Would definitely go and see them again.

The Magic Numbers formed in late 2002 in Hanwell, west London. A uniquely set up band of two sets of brother and sister - Romeo and Michele Stodart and Angela and Sean Gannon.

They started playing shows through London honing their sound and along the way picking up a who’s who of fans including the likes of The Chemical Brothers, Travis, Ed Harcourt and Noel Gallagher.

After working on the London gig circuit, The Magic Numbers developed a cult following and were signed to iconic indie label Heavenly Records who released two singles - the limited edition 7” ‘Hymn for Her’ and ‘Forever Lost’ " which then led to playing a sold-out show to a crowd of over 2,000 at The Forum in Kentish Town - an incredible feat considering their debut album was still not released.

Their eponymously titled debut album dropped in the summer of 2005 which reached number seven in the UK album charts and enjoyed double platinum sales thanks to a massive wave of support from fans and the music press alike, receiving 5/5 review from Mojo 4/5 reviews from Uncut, Q, Rolling Stone and The Guardian with NME and Pitchfork giving it 8/10. It would later even be recognised as one of the best records of the year and be given a Mercury Award nomination.

Their subsequent album titles include Those The Bones, The Runaway, Alias and their latest; Outsiders.
