True spirit of punk

Utterly brilliant. So much talent, presence and a massive sense of anarchic life-affirming fun. Great venue for this band - hope to see them again.

The Lovely Eggs , New Century, Manchester - 1st June 2024

Great band

With it being sold out and knowing that more wanted tickets, I can’t fail to wonder why they can’t play at Rock City tbh

The Lovely Eggs are the pure embodiment of punk spirit. The raucous garage rock duo, comprised of married couple Holly Ross (guitar) and David Blackwell (drums), share vocals and write wonderfully weird songs.

They have released six studio albums, including If You Were Fruit (2009), Cob Dominos (2011), Wildlife (2012), This Is Our Nowhere (2015), This Is Eggland (2018), I Am Moron (2020) and Eggsistentialism (2024).

Artist Bio

The Lovely Eggs are a punk band in the truest sense having a don’t care attitude towards all rules and norms of rock music. The two piece comprise of married couple Holly Ross and David Blackwell, a drum kit, a guitar, a vintage amp and a Big Muff distortion pedal.

The Lovely Eggs tickets are on sale right now through Gigantic. Book yours before they are gone.

The Leicester based pair played their first ever gig in New York City before returning to the UK to tour. The band was immediately supported by airplay on BBC radio stations Radio 1 and 6 Music and were invited by Huw Stephens to play a live session. Their first release was the 2008 EP Have You Ever Heard The Lovely Eggs?

Debut album If You Were Fruit was released through Cherryade Records in 2009. It was promoted by a tour and soon followed by a Twin Peaks inspired Halloween single Haunt Me Out later in the year. The single was declared by XFM as their Single Of The Week.

The 2011 album Cob Dominos contained the singles Don’t Look At Me (I Don’t Like It), which featured John Shuttleworth in the video, and Fuck It. Although the song best exemplified the band’s attitude, they were hampered by the fact that radio stations could not give the song significant airplay due to the expletives.

The band’s third album Wildlife was released in 2012 and featured the single Allergies. Produced by Gruff Rhys of Super Furry Animals, the song was played by Steve Lamacq on BBC 6 Music.

Their 2015 album This Is Our Nowhere was original released as a limited edition vinyl on Record Store Day before its official release nearly two week later.

They have played all over the globe, including USA and Japan, supporting such amazing bands as Shonen Knife, The Slits, The Television Personalities, Art Brut and Half Japanese. They have also played an incredible performance at SXSW in Austin Texas.

This my friends is fucking brilliant. it’s grunge - but not as you know it”- Everett True

You won't hear another band like this anywhere between now and the end of the millennium. The Lovely Eggs are just brilliant! ”- Huw Stephens, Radio One

They have the off the wall look that is perfect pop and the cutting stripped down dynamic of a cool art crew in love with underground rock n roll”- John Robb

The Lovely Eggs concert tickets are available through the Gigantic website. Book as early as possible to avoid disappointment because the demand for this enigmatic band is massive.
