Join us for an unforgettable evening immersed in the captivating narratives of Professor Laura Serrant OBE's latest book, "Stories from My Mother's House."


Her book focusses on living and growing up in Nottingham during the 1970s to 1980s on the ‘New’ council estates following the ‘slum clearance’ from the Meadows.


This event promises an enriching experience where stories come to life and connections are made.


 


Professor Laura Serrant OBE is a Nottingham born, multiple award-winning Globally distinguished academic, healthcare leader, and advocate for social justice. 


 

Author of over 100 articles, including edited books, she is one of the BBC Expert women and was named as the 8th

most influential Black person in Britain by the Powerlist 2018 and has featured in the top 100 in 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022.

In 2018 in recognition of her exceptional contributions, Professor Serrant was honoured with the Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) distinction for services to Nursing and Health Policy.

 

This is her first 'NON-Academic' book.

 

The book features her seminal poem ‘You Called...And We Came’ which stands as the inscription on the National Windrush Monument in Waterloo Station, London.
