Artist Bio

Indie rock band Gengahr have been described by NME as “psychpop with heavy emphasis on the pop” who are adored for their infinite style and have now established themselves as one of the most exciting live bands around. The London based quartet have released their debut album and are ready to take on the world.

Founded in Stoke Newington, the four-piece band consists of drummer Danny Ward, fronted by Felix Bushe, plus guitarist John Victor and Hugh Schulte on bass. They were originally names RES but were forced to change their name after discovering it had already been taken. Now riffing on the name of one of the original 151 Pokemon, their moniker could not currently be more apt!

All of our friends were in bands, there was so much creativity going on in our groups. Our school was really good; we got to rehearse at lunchtime, so to avoid being beaten up we’d often just go and sit in a rehearsal room. ” - Hugh Schulte

Their break came with DJ Huw Stephens discovering their singles Powder and Fill My Gums With Blood and began giving them prominent airplay on his BBC Radio 1 programme. Not only did the song introduce many to the band but it resulted in a performance at Glastonbury Festival! They then proceeded to become one of the must have bands on the international festival circuit.

Released in 2015, their debut album is entitled A Dream Outside. With tracks being played regularly on BBC Radio 6 the band’s hazy style caught on quickly with listening audiences and is highly praised by the music press.
