Oxford based indie quartet Low Island continue to impress ahead of the release of debut album If You Could Have It All Again next month, and now they drop stunning single “I Do It For You” which is packed full of all the feels.
“This song is about someone recognising that they’re dutifully putting everything into a relationship that is fundamentally doomed, all for the sake of the ‘idea’ of love, rather than the person themselves.”
Low Island will appear at Dot To Dot festival, which arrives at various venues in Bristol on Saturday 25th of September, and then Nottingham the follow day of Sunday 26th.
Last year saw the arrival of breakout band Do Nothing who, with their sleazy take on new wave and post punk attitude, quickly reaches cult states with their debut Zero Dollar Bill EP. It’s now followed by a brand new second helping titled Glueland which was stuck together with producer Ali Chant at Toybox Studios in Bristol and mixed by Buzzard Buzzard Buzzard singer/guitarist Tom Rees.
We contacted Do Nothing about their upcoming headline dates in support of their essential EP, and tickets are currently on sale with Gigantic. Guitarist Kasper Sandstrøm had this to say; “Absolutely massively pumped to be heading out on tour later in the year, fingers crossed everything goes smooth in the run up so we can finally play these songs in front of people.”
Glueland is out now on 21” vinyl via their very own imprint Exact Truth – CLICK HERE to get your copy!
Tom Grennan became the big name in British indie pop when his debut album Lightning Matches broke into the Top 10 and earned Gold certification, marking the arrival of a true new star. Now, he’s back with follow up album Evering Road which sheds any fears of a difficult second album and returns with a personal record that tells a truly emotive story.
Written in hindsight of a now finished relationship; Evering Road is where Grennan used to live and the location where he first fell in love and bonded, before the heart-wrenching experience of breaking up. Reflective and emotional, it’s a raw record which explores the giddy romantic highs and devastating forlorn lows in what will be one of the biggest album releases of the year.
“Writing songs about that last relationship was therapy. It was me holding my hands up and going, “I did make mistakes but I am a human being as well”. Unfortunately, I lost somebody at the time who I really did love. Putting it on a song is how I got over it.”

Leeds jazz, funk and hip hop collective Nubiyan Twist never fail to produce something exotic and unique. Today sees the release of brand new nine track LP Freedom Fables, which once again shows their passion for exploring exciting possibilities as they imbue their rhythms with mystical stories of togetherness.
"Freedom Fables reflects on the power of narratives. Each vocalist on this record explores their own memoirs, a freedom of expression underpinning our belief that music is the ultimate narrative for unity. The record references a lot of music that we all loved during our formative years; you can hear touches of broken beat, blunted hip hop, highlife, Latin, jazz and UK soul running through the tracks.” – Tom Excell
Touring in September, grab your ticket to see Nubiyan Twist with Gigantic.
