The Who Hits Back!, Sewell Group Craven Park, Hull - 6th July 2023

Great line up

All 3 acts on the day were brilliant and the venue wasn't overcrowded. It was relatively easy to get a drink from the bars and food (if you timed it right). Toilet areas need much better access to hand sanitisers or wash areas.

THE WHO, Royal Sandringham Estate, Kings Lynn - 28th August 2023

Great Day

We had an amazing day at Sandringham - well organised, beautiful setting and great music. The production and stage was amazing and hopefully the start of more large scale events in Norfolk!

The Who have a reputation for wild shows and riotous antics both on and off the stage. Their rock hits include “My Generation”, “Substitute”, “Won’t Get Fooled Again”, “Who Are You”, “Pinball Wizard”, “The Seeker” and “I Can See For Miles”. One of the most influential rock bands of all time, The Who shaped the sound of the 20th century and beyond.

Formed in 1964, The Who were leaders of the Mod movement before straying further and further into the wild excesses of prog rock. Their classic line up included Roger Daltrey (vocals), Pete Townshend (lead guitar), John Entwistle (bass) and Keith Moon (drums).

Entered into The Rock And Roll Hall of Fame with over 100 million records sold, The Who would also develop the rock opera movie concept, and be instrumental in the creation of such classic films as Tommy and Quadrophenia.

Formed in 1964, The Who were instrumental in the development of Pop Art and the Mod youth culture. The band pushed the frontiers of popular music and changed the cultural landscape with their 1969 rock opera album Tommy. The record has sold in excess of 20 million copies and is widely recognised as one of the most important albums of all time.

The album was later developed into a psychedelic masterpiece film, directed by Ken Russel, in 1975. The film included a star studded cast including Elton John, Tina Turner, Eric Clapton, Jack Nicholson, Oliver Reed and the band themselves. It was also turned into a Broadway musical which was first performed in 1992.

In 1998 the studio album Tommy was inducted into the prestigious Grammy Hall Of Fame for “historical, artistic and significant value” which cemented its reputation as a truly seminal piece of work.

Recently, The Who have re-imagined the album Tommy for an acoustic based performance which is expected to feature heavily at their upcoming live performances.

Their second rock opera; Quadrophenia was also released originally as an album in 1973 before being made into a movie in 1979.
