Philadelphia country star songwriter Kurt Vile is characterised by a slacker sound. Drawing on the indie rock bands of the 90’s; he began recording on tapes as a teen where he developed his lo-fi, no gimmicks sound before becoming lead guitarist of The War On Drugs with close friend Adam Granduciel.
Splitting with the band to focus on his solo career; Vile would enjoy cult status with his initial record releases, including debut album Constant Hitmaker, God Is Saying This to You..., Childish Prodigy and Smoke Ring for My Halo which was named in NME’s 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
As his sound developed, Vile began to attract a wider listenership resulting in greater commercial success, with 2013 record Wakin on a Pretty Daze and 2015’s B'lieve I'm Goin Down... becoming modest international hit albums.
Further releases include Lotta Sea Lice, which saw him team up with celebrated Australian singer / songwriter Courtney Barnett, Bottle It In and Watch My Moves.
