FIDLAR, O2 Manchester Ritz, Manchester - 19th July 2018
Californian skate punk band FIDLAR are the trashy garage band you’ve been after. Anticool and unapologetic, the LA slackers are growing ever bigger as they win more fans around the world. This year has seen the release of their new album Almost Free. Catch them when they promote it by playing a headline set at Electric Brixton in London on Tuesday 27th of August 2019. We know that it is easy to forget when your favourite act goes on sale. So, place a personal reminder with Gigantic and then we can alert you with a text message or an email just prior to their release at 10:00 on Friday 17th of May. FIDLAR is made up of brothers Elvis Kuehn (Vocals and Guitar) and Max Kuhn (Drums), their half cousin Brandon Schwartzel (Bass) and Zac Carper (Vocals and Guitar). Although they are considered a Los Angeles band, Carper was born in Hawaii. The band was initially formed by Elvis Kuehn and Carper whilst they both worked at the same recording studio. The pair would write and record together whenever the studio was empty before recruiting the additional members and post the results online. Inspired by a photo of Patti Smith they were originally named Fuck The Clock until they changed their named to the LA skating acronym FIDLAR (which stands for Fuck It Dog, Life’s A Risk) in 2009. Their eponymously titled debut album was released in 2012, a year that saw them listed by Stereogum as one of the 40 Best Bands of that year. Having featured in everything from film soundtracks to TV shows and computer games the band are certainly getting a wide range of airplay. Their second studio album Too was released in September 2015 and saw the band continue to tour the world as they grow ever popular. FIDLAR returned their year with their outstanding third album Almost Free which was a massive hit with fans and critics alike. “Freewheeling spirit and casual non-sequiturs are all over Almost Free, with a cornucopia of ‘anything goes’ creativity on offer, comprising flashes of hip-hop, glam rock, fuzzed-out funk, punk and everything in between. Yet not once does it sound contrived or anything but an album very much of the here and now. ... An absolute joy to behold. It’s a trip to listen to, and an instant modern classic.” - Kerrang! We are very excited to be able to offer FIDLAR concert tickets, but with only limited supplies been made available we do urge you to book early or risk missing out.
