Young Knives is a British rock band formed in 2001 in Ashby-de-la-Zouch, England. Known for their distinctive blend of post-punk, indie rock, and new wave influences, the band consists of brothers Henry and Thomas Dartnall and their friend, vocalist and guitarist, and features a unique sound characterised by sharp, witty lyrics, catchy melodies, and energetic performances.
Their debut album, Burn the Evidence (2006), received critical acclaim, but it was their second album, Superabundance (2008), that brought them mainstream attention, featuring hits like "Terra Firma" and "Another" that showcased their knack for combining clever wordplay with infectious hooks. The band's music often explores themes of modern life, relationships, and social commentary, delivered with a playful yet edgy tone.
Over the years, Young Knives has continued to evolve their sound, releasing several albums, including Ornaments from the Silver Arcade (2011) and Barbarian (2019). They remain a notable presence in the UK indie rock scene, celebrated for their inventive approach and engaging live performances.
