Thee Oh Sees, Academy, Manchester - 14th June 2017

mic eating, pick chewing, lyric spitting, spectacular of a show

Words cannot express the awesome rawness of this event. The venue was excellent as always, but Thee Oh Sees ruled my world last night. john Dwyer is a legend and i wish i'd found this band earlier in my life. Just go and see for yourself!!

Thee Oh Sees, Academy, Manchester - 14th June 2017

Ever experimental, Californian band Oh Sees (formally Thee Oh Sees) music encompasses a wide territory of genres from garage to post punk and art noise to psychedelic rock. Massively prolific, the band is constantly working and has released a huge amount of amazing records whilst also playing phenomenal live shows around the world.

The band is centred around drummers Ryan Moutinho and Dan Rincon, the vocals and guitar of John Dwyer and Tim Hellman on bass.

They have just announced a handful of exciting upcoming headline dates for the new year including Manchester’s Albert Hall and SWX at Bristol during May 2020.

Artist Bio

Originally the solo work of Dwyer titled Orinoka Crash Suite, the San Franciscan began his work in 1997 recording a number of experimental noise albums and records that may feature a minimal amount of other players, but largely tended to be solo efforts.
In the mid 2000’s Dwyer started to work under the name The Oh Sees. Still largely experimental art rock influenced, he released the two albums The Cool Death Of Island Raiders and Sucks Blood. This work saw him working with a greater number of other musicians.

Thee Oh Sees were established as a band in 2008. It saw Dwyer move towards a sound more clearly influenced by garage rock. The band have worked hard and seen a massive output since their creation, having released a huge sixteen studio albums including their latest offering Smote Reverser under the name Oh Sees.
