Britpop legends and defining indie group Echobelly exploded in the mid-90s. Led by Sonya Madan, the London-based band’s fusion of jagged guitars, brash attitude, and pop sensibilities drew comparisons to Blondie and even The Smiths.
Looking to the future Echobelly has announced an autumn/winter UK tour, with tickets on sale soon through Gigantic Tickets.

The indie icon’s first hit, "Insomniac" is a nod and a wink towards the seedier party scene at the centre of London's lifestyle and was featured on Echobelly’s Top 10 debut album, Everyone's Got One in 1994. The attitude-laden anthem was also later used in the soundtrack of the major comedy movie Dumb and Dumber.
"I Can't Imagine the World Without Me" was another early Echobelly success story. The top 40 single from their first album was a defiant statement from Sonya Madan, celebrating her self-confidence and breaking out of the expectations placed on her as a woman.
"Great Things" is Echobelly’s highest charting single so far, rising to lucky No. 13. The band’s bright yet brash sound chimed with the edgy optimism of the Britpop movement, and the lead single helped shoot the 1995 album On right up to No. 4 in the charts.
The song everyone knows and loves Echobelly for, "King of the Kerb," shines a light on the dark Soho underbelly, exploring the experiences of strippers, gangsters and the clientele of various clubs the band dare not visit found across the road from their homes. "King of the Kerb" remains Echobelly’s signature song and most recognised anthem.
The third and final single featured on the Top 10 album On, "Dark Therapy" peaked at No. 20 despite its sombre tone. It also appears on both of Echobelly’s greatest hit compilations, I Can't Imagine The World Without Me and The Best Of Echobelly.
