Fusing disco vibes with dance pop sensibilities; new single “Hallucination” is a mesmerising combination of the huge talents of star of the moment Years & Years (now the solo work of singer Olly Alexander) plus BRIT Award nominee and producer DJ Regard.
The song is released ahead of the huge Years & Years headline springtime show at Motorpoint Arena Nottingham and explores the delirium of desire, and
“I wrote Hallucination with Joel Little back in 2019, I was inspired to write it when an ex lover attempted to re-enter my life. Part of me wanted to rekindle the romance but too much had changed and I was left feeling really confused. If I looked at the situation a certain way, the whole thing seemed fake, like it was all just one big illusion. You know after the dust settles and you’re like, was any of that real? That’s what inspired me to write the track, I don’t see it as an anti-love song, it’s more just a feeling I wanted to express. I know lots of people have been burnt in relationships so hopefully they’ll relate to the lyrics. I could never find the right home for the song though, so when I heard Regard was into it and down to work on it I was so happy! I love the new sexy trippy life he’s brought to the track.” – Olly Alexander

After the release for first record Mirrorland which saw them become an international sensation in 2019; Atlanta hip hop pairing Earthgang are back with second LP Ghetto Gods which Olu (aka Johnny Venus) and WowGr8 (aka Doctur Dot) consider a huge leap forward.
“We realized that the energy of these songs is what we want to go towards. Then, once we started listening back to the records, we were seeing this underlying theme about the present moment. We was like, ‘OK, we’re talking about us finding our light in this wild-ass situation.’” – Olu
Ghetto Gods sees the duo team up with Musiq Soulchild for “Amen”, a knowing Gospel inspired track talking about love. Plus, hard hitting single “American Horror Story”, which Earthgang feels tells the real story of Black lives in America, shining a light on all the injustice, barriers to equality and how it can be re-addressed.
