Following on from his experimental EP Everyday Sun, Idlewild singer Roddy Woomble continues his strange exploration into experimental minimalist songs with new single “Architecture in LA”. Taken from his upcoming album Lo! Soul which is written with the help of band mate Andrew Wasylyk, “Architecture in LA” sees Woomble’s musings on the psychological relationships we have with buildings accompanied by wonderfully wonky upbeat track and cello curtsy of Scottish songwriter Jill Lorean.
“I’ve been fascinated by the design and Architecture of Los Angeles for a long time. I’m fascinated by the city in general, the history of Hollywood and the film industry. I read a book about the design and architecture of LA in lockdown around the same time as America was in the news a lot. . Watching footage of the protests marching down the big wide boulevards of LA past all these familiar landmarks and buildings I was struck by how buildings connect us through time. They provide the backdrop to our actions, whatever they are.”
Roddy Woomble will promote his latest solo LP Lo! Soul with headline dates in October plus a tour during March of next year – tickets currently selling with Gigantic. You can pre-order Lo! Soul HERE.
Following on from the release of Lauran Hibberd‘s blistering shared single “How Am I Still Alive?” featuring Lydia Night of L.A. pop punks The Regrettes, the grunge girl now drops the accompanying video which mashes up her very own carton with home shot footage.
“The video is a collection of (lockdown available) ideas, a transatlantic home video with animation seemed to be the only way we could get Lydia and I side by side. It’s based on documenting your every sleepless move (in the home video footage), whilst having your maddest thoughts and dreams (in the animation). I think it summarises how weird it is to live in a shut down world right now and where our minds go throughout”.
Lauran Hibberd has just announced a headline show at Exchange in Bristol on October 10th, and you can see her appear at Neighbourhood Weekender plus play support for McFly.
Back for their sixth album, Texan alt hip hop outfit BROCKHAMPTON drop their latest release New Light, New Machine – and it’s stunning! Rounding up a huge list of A-list mates to collaborate, including dream team A$AP Rocky and A$AP Ferg, JPEGMAFIA, Charlie Wilson and more; it’s the fresh new sound that is going to thrill their fans.
