Whoop Whoop! It’s the weekend!! And Gigantic is here with #NewMusicFriday – your indispensable guide to all the hottest tunes, tracks, songs and records that have just dropped over the week. Enjoy the fresh beats and grab your tickets, because live music is back baby!
Following on from sinister epic single “Friends Without Names”; premier post punks LIFE now release “Big Moon Lake” – the second track to be taken from their third LP which they have now revealed to be named North East Coastal Town.
Taking style and sound influence from Red Guitars, also a politically charged band from Hull, “Big Moon Lake” addresses the Yorkshire identity, the sense of alienation that comes with it.
“We wanted “Big Moon Lake” to acknowledge the lyrical social commentary that was littered throughout our first two records whilst expanding the experimental and personal sound that you will hear throughout the new record.
The track is playful and teases everyday themes of missing out, numbness, drinking, smoking and eating badly and generally wanting more for yourself in life. Its resolve being that in hindsight everything is in front of you, it’s on your doorstep and in this case that’s the wondrous county of Yorkshire.”
North East Coastal Town is available to pre-order HERE.

North London born duo Jim Higson and Daniel McCarthy first started indie pop outfit KAWALA whilst studying at Leeds, fusing everything from folk to afrobeat and then returning home as one of THE vital breakout bands in recent years. Now they drop debut album Better With You which features stunning singles “Hypnotized”, “Searching” and “Ticket To Ride”.
Eager to show off their new material to real audiences, KAWALA takes their awesome first album out on tour in April before hitting the festival circuit, making appearances at NECK OF THE WOODS, Tramlines and 110 Above.
"Most of the album hasn’t been played live, but we have played the two singles, one of which wasn’t out yet on our November / December, but it was amazing, people were singing along to the first one, and were singing along to the one we hadn’t released yet by the end of it!” – Daniel McCarthy
