Anthemic and emotional; Scarlet Rebels take their ques from the glory days of stadium rock and are the Welsh answer to the likes of Bryan Adams, Guns N’ Roses and Aerosmith. Fresh and exciting, they present a 21st century attitude to a timeless sound as first heard on debut record Show Your Colours.
This year sees both the release of their awesome second album See Through Blue which smashed into the Top 40 plus a huge accompanying headline tour – tickets on sale with Gigantic HERE. You can also witness Scarlet Rebels smash it this summer at such essential festivals as Steelhouse Festival and Rockmantic Lincoln.
Scarlet Rebels are Wayne Doyle (singer), his brother Gary Doyle (drums), Chris Jones (lead guitar), Josh Townshend (rhythm guitarist/keys) and Wayne ‘Pricey’ Esmonde (bass).
Based in Llanelli, South Wales; the melodic rock five-piece are led by frontman Wayne Doyle and formed in 2018. Taking inspiration from the name of their local rugby team Llanelli Scarlets, their music reflects both their local identity and authentic personalities as well as their boundless ambition to be the biggest band in the world.
“Growing up, you take the place you’re from for granted, but all your experiences are shaped by it. Coming from Llanelli has given us a really strong work ethic. We’ve had to scrap every single inch to get where we are, but we’ve done it on our terms.”
Making big waves in the British rock scene, the power of their performances was translated in the studio with incredible first album Show Your Colours which was released in 2019, followed a year later by live album LIVE: Made In Sonic One.
Reflecting the turbulent times we now live in, Scarlet Rebels have returned with second album See Through Blue which articulates Doyle’s anger at cynical politicians whose self-serving are the cause of many of the worst problems in British society, yet seek praise and glory for the thankless hard work of others.
“This guy was basically hijacking something someone else had done.I was watching these politicians coming on the news every day, trotting out absolute bullshit and using the world’s downturn to make a profit for themselves. And no one from the other side was calling them out in it. Politics is so corrupt. It needs a kick up the arse.” – Wayne Doyle
The band’s overt passion has elevated their political rock to tremendous success, shooting straight to No. 7 in the charts upon release, and features their epic hard rock anthem “I’m Alive”.
“I initially wrote 'I'm Alive' around the defiance of still being in a band and not leaving music to focus on 'real' life, as many suggested I should do. 'Real' life is whatever you make it - especially in light of the pandemic, it's unbelievable to me that anyone would try and draw someone away from their passions. This is a song for everyone who's ever been doubted and stuck to their guns regardless. I salute you!” – Wayne Doyle
