Desert Storm is a British sludge and stoner metal band formed in 2007 in Oxford, England. Known for their heavy, groove-laden riffs and powerful, raw sound, the band blends elements of sludge, stoner rock, doom metal, and southern rock to create a thick, crushing sonic experience. The lineup features Matt Ryan (vocals), Chris White (guitar), Ryan Cole (guitar), Elliot Cole (drums), and Chris Benoist (bass).
Desert Storm’s music is characterized by deep, gritty vocals, pounding rhythms, and riff-heavy guitar work, drawing comparisons to bands like Mastodon and Crowbar. Their debut album, Forked Tongues (2010), introduced their signature sound to the metal scene, while subsequent releases like Omniscient (2015) and Sentinels (2018) solidified their reputation for crafting dark, atmospheric, and crushingly heavy music.
Their 2020 album, Omens, further pushed their sound, incorporating more progressive elements and expanding their sonic palette. Known for their intense live performances, Desert Storm continues to be a standout in the UK’s underground metal scene.
