Local Natives are an indie rock band from Silver Lake region of Los Angeles in California. The band have a carnival feel that is tempered with a folk sound and bolstered with use of keys and electronics. Loved by critics, they continue to write innovative music.

Touring in Autumn, Local Natives will play at Gorilla in Manchester and Bristol’s Fleece during October 2019.

Local Natives’ debut album came out in 2009 and was called Gorilla Manor. The recording of the album took place at Red Rockets Glare Studio and was self-funded by the band although it was released via Infectious Records in the UK and Frenchkiss Records in the States. The album was a piece of collaborative work amongst the entire band including the writing of the tracks and even the artwork featured on the cover. The band took to the road to promote their first album which included nine shows at SXSW in Austin, Texas.

Their second album was entitled Hummingbird and released in 2013. The release sent critics wild with praise and the record rose to an impressive #12 in the Billboard Top 200. Although it was not as obviously punchy as the previous album, the band are keen to stress that the album is not dark and does contain elements of optimism.
They have recently premiered their new song Villainy through Zane Lowe’s Beat 1 radio show. The song follows the release of their other new song Past Lives and gives a flavour of the new and yet as untitled album expected to be released later in the year.
