Toyah, Rescue Rooms, Nottingham - 26th October 2019

A very energetic and theatrical performance

Toyah might be 61 but she gave a very energetic performance covering all her hits and some of her new album. Particularly liked I wanna Be Free and her cover of Echo Beach. A great Saturday night and she was on for just under 1.5 hours. Great to see she is still touring and I will see her tour again later this year with Hazel O’Connor

Toyah: Acoustic Up Close & Personal, Rafa Music Club Newark, Newark - 30th June 2017

Toyah Willcox rose to fore in the late 70s as a major force in punk and new wave. She is best known for the singles "It's a Mystery", "Thunder in the Mountains" and "I Want to Be Free". Wilcox is also an actor, appearing in the cult movie Quadrophenia, plus Kavanagh QC and Secret Diary of a Call Girl.

Artist Bio

Toyah Wilcox rose out of the punk rock movement to become a leading figure in new wave.

Toyah Wilcox blazes that trail, even now after being involved in music and film across five different decades, she has a spirit in which cannot be broken, which cannot be defied and for those fortunate enough to truly remember the 80s, Toyah was one of the reasons the music moved away from the downtrodden beige spectacle and into fighting back against expected and misbegotten conformity.” - Liverpool Sound And Vision
