The Musical Box, Portsmouth Guildhall, Portsmouth - 18th February 2023
I the last 20 years I have attended several of The Musical Box concerts at various venues and the band has never once failed to astound me with their utterly faitful reproduction of classic/Gabriel era Genesis concerts in detail. Tonight The band's piece de resistance is their staging of the complete performance of 'The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway' with its complex storyline and rich musical beauty. With unbelieveable attention to every detail (which I remember from the original Genesis concerts in 1975) from the back projected slides used by Genesis (Genesis gave access to the original slides to The Musical Box to copy and use in their own concerts), the lighting, Gabriel's costumes, most notably the famours/infamous Slipperman costumes, and most importantly the music and enacting by 'Peter Gabriel' reproduced with utmost fidelity.The band members are all superb musicians who each capture the essence of the performances of the parts they play. I cannot recommend this band highly enough. If you loved early Genesis or are interested or if you are too young to have seen Genesis how it was done in the early to mid 70s just go and see The Musical Box.

This band are just magic. Dramatic, captivating. The lead singer is just superb. This band captures early Genesis...the best. See you guys next year.. hopefully
