The Dead Daisies + The Treatment & The Bites, KKs Steel Mill, Wolverhampton - 14th September 2024

Dead Daisies Plus Support

Three excellent bands, delivering lively performances with verve! Now that John Corabi is back on vocals the Daisies once again have a worthy front man. The Treatment performed the best live set I've ever seen. Catchy tunes that got me nodding to the rhythm. The Bites, new kids on the block for me, opened with a lively performance. This is the second time I've caught them and they didn't disappoint. The only thing that marred the gig was the ridiculously early door opening and the finish at 21:45 so the venue could accommodate the cash cow that is the Nottingham Student Massive immediately after the gig. This "curfew" meaning many punters were not present for the Bites set.

The Dead Daisies + The Treatment & The Bites, Rock City, Nottingham - 13th September 2024

Great gig & great venue

First time at the 1865 Southampton and what a great venue! Very small venue for seeing such accomplished musicians. First The Bites who were entertaining -the lead singer did appear to be a bit too enthusiastic at times (“we’re from Hollywood California!”-bothered??) but the music was good. The Treatment upped the tempo and got the crowd on side and ready for the headliners. Reminded me of Slade at times and wouldn’t have been out of place during the 80’s NWOBHM. Sound quality was excellent. The headliners The Dead Daisies were brilliant as I’ve not seen them before and their latest album had only just been released 2 days before the gig. I was impressed with John’s interaction with the audience and the dialogue was good humoured and tongue in cheek. Every member of the band gave their all and it was a privilege to be entertained by such accomplished musicians at such a small venue. Impressed by their short covers of such great bands as Sabbath AC/DC Led Zep and white stripes whilst getting audience participation and singing along. All the tracks performed were great rock tracks with a special treat of a blues track from another new album due next year. Good to see a lead singer introduce band members with some back story and personal stuff rather than the usual “and on guitar Fred Flintstone”!! These guys have been around like forever and played with some mega rock and metal bands. The crowd were great and for such a tiny venue there was plenty of personal space and I’m sure that like me everyone had a great night. I’ll definitely be back to the 1865 for the right band. An excellent venue but in a bit of a tired part of town. Good cheap secure parking at nearby West Quays.
