Wonderful Swans

My favourite band in a great venue, well organised in every respect.

Swans, Roundhouse, London - 27th May 2017

Bone-shakingly powerful

Everything about the evening coalesces into the quintessential 'Swans live' experience. The brutality of the music, the toll your ears and body take from the volume, the fatigue from the long sets (Swans played for over 2 hours, with an hour from Thurston Moore and a little less from Little Annie before that, makes it a 4+ hour odyssey) giving way for the mind to delve, losing yourself in Gira's mantras, repeated ad nauseum. The greatest live rock band today, and I'm glad I caught them at the peak of their power before the end of the current Swans era.

creme de la creme

If one can offer - in terms of musical performance - more than Swans, I would like to know who they are. Swans found their mojo and the concerts of the last few years will be very hard to surpass by ANY musician. It's so much more than rock music or noise or alternative or prog. It's moving in the direction of the ultimate avant-garde. We absolutely recommend to see them, to listen to the bliss, but - mind you - with some good supply of the earplugs.

Swans, O2 Victoria Warehouse, Manchester - 28th May 2017

brilliant performance!

Plenty security and an excellent performance from the Swans. I hope that someone filmed the concert. Get the Swans back again. I will come again if you do.

New York based Swans take experimental rock to its hardest edges. Taking influence from the cities no wave scene, they have burst from the underground to become the band of choice for alternative fans and critics alike.

Band members include Michael Gira (guitar, vocals, bass), Kristof Hahn (guitars), Larry Mullins (drums, Mellotron) Christopher Pravdica (bass), Phil Puleo (drums, percussion), Ben Frost (keys) and Dana Schechter (bass).

Artist Bio

No wave band Swans delve into deep experimental noise rock and are known for their repetitive song structures creating a hypnotic effect upon the listener. Using a wide range of instruments in their pursuit of sonic expression, their ever shifting sound marks them as a unique and compelling act that everyone must see.

They were originally active between the years of 1982 and 1997 when they first split. Swans reformed in 2010 to continue writing new material and playing live.

After undergoing extensive line-up changes, the band members currently include drummer Phil Puleo, guitarists Norman Westberg, Christoph Hahn and Michael Gira who provides vocals with Paul Walfisch on keys and Christopher Pravdica on bass guitar.

Swans tickets are currently available but are expected to sell quickly. So, book early or risk missing out.

The album is monumental in every sense of the word, a visceral testament to the abilities of an incredible group of musicians, each member contributing equally to its breathtaking chiaroscuro.” - Pretty Much Amazing

Swans began as a creative reaction to punk. Lead by Gira, the New York City band explored a creative expansive sound that drew on the nihilism and power of punk but looked to create a drone that would allow greater freedom of experimentation which set them upon a path to become a forerunner of post rock and become one of the most influential bands ever.

Given the limited amounts and huge demand Swans concert tickets are expected to go very quickly so do not hang around and book yours before they are gone. Stick with Gigantic for the best experience in getting the gig tickets you need.
