Outstanding Muscians

Brilliant evening, but could have done with a screen

Steely Dan, OVO Arena Wembley, London - 25th February 2019

Great night

What a great night. Steve Winwood was the support act and did an excellent set. His voice is still great and the band were good, especially the percussionist. Only Donald Fagin left now in Steely Dan since the death of Walter Becker but he picks the right caliber of musicians to play with. The sound mix was very good from where I was sitting, the whole band were tight and very slick. A great nostalgia fest. Will they tour U K again? who knows. Wembley Arena is so much better than the O2.

Great music, terrible entrance

I'm a fan of both Winwood and Steely Dan, so I went to London from Spain, where I live, just to watch this concert. Got a hotel nearby, and was at the doors at 7 p.m. (Gig start scheduled at 7:30). An incredible line of people at every entrance made it impossible to enter in 40 min, the security checkin points were either too slow, inefficient or not enough. At my entrance, South West, there was only one arc and one person. When I finallly could get it (10 minutes/2 songs into the Winwood part), many people were yet out, waiting to enter, so they kept coming in small quantities, crossing everywhere to go to their seats, making almost impossible to concentrate on the music, so this affaire made it impossible for me to enjoy more than half the performance of Stevie. The music, as far as I could hear it, was superb. Delighted when Fagen invited Stevie to join him in one number.

Memorable show

A good show with terrific support from Steve Winwood who never seems to age and can still hit all the notes on songs going back to the Spencer Davis Groups days. Steely Dan were great too with a good mix of numbers though not all unalloyed golden oldie hits. There were enough of those to keep the crowd happy but one or two numbers were not as well received. But the band were phenomenal - with great backing singers, guitarist, brass section and brilliant drums. Overall a top gig.

Very Polished

A really good evening's entertainment starting with a great set from Stevie Winwood, who later joined in with Steely Dan for a memorable collusion. Sound quality for The Dan was excellent and Donald Fagen has surrounded himself with some highly accomplished musicians. Avoiding a lot of their best known tracks they played a smooth, jazz tinged set that proved to be a great crowd pleaser before finishing off with My Old School and Reelin in the Years to send everyone home happy
