Fantastic show - shame the crowd wasn’t bigger

Skinny Pelembe at Metronome, Metronome Nottingham, Nottingham - 14th October 2019
Great performance and actually the first time that we had listened to the band properly. We had the pleasure to meet and chat with Skinny in the audience, just before Elsa Hewitt began her set. Some great lyrics, synth and percussion; and with vocals shared between Skinny and Chloe, the keyboard player, this really added depth, quality and punch! It was very nasty weather outside, which may have deterred numbers, but for those that were there, the band had an audience that fully appreciated them. We will definitely see them again, thanks for coming to Nottingham!

Skinny with drums and keyboards, very good musicians, and he smashed it. Liked how he majored on his recent album and with just the three of them on stage, gave a really good twist to the new album songs. Cos the music was so chilled could have had the venue's excellent seating out but hey ho, use it or lose it. Good crowd considering the inclement weather.

Johannesburg-born, Doncaster-raised songwriter Skinny Pelembe takes an innovative approach to his music, blending jazz, indie and electronica.
In 2019, Pelembe dropped their debut album Dreaming Is Dead Now. He has followed this up with a string of awesome singles including “Like A Heart Won’t Beat”, “Oh Silly George” and ”Deadman Deadman Deadman”.
