The superstar has received eleven Grammy nominations, six MT Video Music Award nominations and won the illustrious I Am Hip-Hop Icon Award at BET Hop Hop Awards.

Nasir bin Olu Dara Jones formally went under the nickname Kid Wave before taking the moniker Nasty Nas. He began recording original material with Large Professor in the late eighties. In the early nineties he was approached by MC Serch with an offer of management who saw him sign to Columbia Records the same year.

His 1994 album Illmatic is enthused about by adoring critics all around the world and is frequently listed as one of the greatest hip hop albums of all time. The record rejuvenated New York rap and cemented his highly influential position.

Since the album’s release he has brought out a further nine studio albums and three compilations. His latest release Life is Good came out in 2012 and saw him hit #1 on the Billboard 200 and #8 of the British Album Chart.
