Editors are a Birmingham-based band, known for their brooding and atmospheric sound.
Originally formed in 2002, the group now contains members Tom Smith (lead vocals, guitar, piano), Russell Leetch (bass guitar, synthesiser, backing vocals), Ed Lay (drums, percussion, backing vocals), Justin Lockey (lead guitar), Elliott Williams (keys, synthesizers, guitars, and backing vocals), and Benjamin John Power (composer and producer).
Initially rooted in post-punk, they rose to prominence in the mid-00s with Platinum-certified albums The Back Room (2005), hitting No. 1 with An End Has a Start (2007) and In This Light and on This Evening (2009). Success continued with Gold-selling records The Weight of Your Love (2013) and In Dream (2015)
The band have moved towards a more electronic sound as heard on their latest LPs Violence (2018) and EBM (2022).
