A cracking gig

A fantastic gig and good support from Goat Girl too, the show was made even more memorable by the sight of a Polar Bear crowd surfing.

British Sea Power, Rock City, Nottingham - 4th May 2018

A Bobby Dazzler of a performance

First BSP show after being a fan for 13 years. It won't be my last. Great setlist and a great easy venue to get to. Top shrubbery tossing, and much respect to the bears for their contributions in the audience.

British Sea Power, Cambridge Junction, Cambridge - 15th February 2018

I Shall Keep on Drying

Hearing such a great sound in such a tiny venue was both a bit sad and a huge privilege. These guys are too good to be touring such tiny venues . Still have The Great Skua flying through my soul and using my tea towel with pride :)

British Sea Power, The Globe, Cardiff - 11th February 2018

Bang on!

BSP are tremendous live! First time seeing them at The Globe Cardiff last night, a sold out fairly intimate little venue and they had the whole place going ... great sound and great songs with a helping of crowd interaction this was a night to remember. I'll be catching them again as soon as I can ........ 10/10

Top of Their Game

Excellent venue, car parking across road, not too crowded, good bar service. BSP were superb, really performed brilliantly, from their large back catalogue, and of course two giant moshing bears!

Artist Bio

British Sea Power are a Brighton based indie outfit whose intelligent music draws on post punk and post rock to produce a beautiful triumphant sound that is unmistakably theirs. Sometimes enthusiastic, other times patient, their songs are melodic and heart-warming.

The band started after brothers Jan and Neil Wilkinson were joined by Martin Noble and Matthew Wood. They enjoyed early successes through clever self-promotion through their own club night “Club Sea Power” and the release of their first single Fear Of Drowning through their own Golden Chariot label in 2001.

After they signed to Rough Trade they released their wittily entitled debut album; The Decline Of British Sea Power in 2003. The album wowed fans and critics alike selling over 60,000 copies and featured their single Carrion which broke the Top 40 Singles Chart. This early success saw the band see a rise in fame and attendance to their shows.

The band’s career has seen their success continue to grow having been recruited to record the soundtrack for the film From The Sea To The Land Beyond: Britain’s Coast On Film and the documentary Happiness.

They have also recorded a total of five original studio albums plus 2015 saw the release of Sea Of Brass, which re-imagined some of the band’s previous best work recorded again with the addition of a brass band. The recorded was released on their Golden Chariot label.

Their latest album is titled Let The Dancers Inherit The Party and was released in 2017 to both critical and commercial acclaim.

In a recent poll of BBC Radio 6 listeners British Sea Power were voted in to ninth place of the top 100 hundred tracks of the radio stations lifetime with Remember Me.
